Childrens Swimwear

Childrens swimwear can be a nightmare, or it can be a lot of fun.  Buying your child a swimsuit for the first time is something you probably didn’t think about until you went to do it with no idea what to expect.  Once you see all the prints and colors, it can be easy to get distracted and miss out on what is really important.  It has to be cute and functional, right?

Childrens swimwear for kids still in diapers should either have snaps in the crotch for easy access to swim diapers, or have a separate bottom piece that can be pulled down for diaper changes.  Snaps make it much easier because a pair of wet shorts can be hard to get off of a squirming baby!  However, there are some two-piece swimsuits for girls that are cute enough to make it worthwhile.  Don’t be afraid to have fun with your childs swimwear.  Instead of sticking with a solid color, go with playful stripes or polka dots.  For girls, ruffles are always a treat!  Playful color combinations and wild prints also have a practical purpose, too, making it easy to differentiate your child from others with whom he or she may be playing.

For kids who are well beyond the diaper stage, the sky is the limit when it comes to picking out childrens swimwear.  Most boys can easily pick out their own board shorts without any argument from Mom or Dad.  However, when picking out a swimsuit for your daughter, it is a good idea to know ahead of time how much coverage you are comfortable with her wearing.  Once you get to the store, you will quickly discover swimsuits of all kinds.  Stand your ground and be firm about what you feel is appropriate while allowing a little room for self expression, and you can probably find a happy medium to please you both.
